Global water problem
- Water is becoming increasingly scarce in many regions of the world. Climate change, population growth and intensive agriculture are increasing the pressure on water resources:
- Water pollution: Industrial wastewater, agricultural chemicals and household waste pollute rivers, lakes and groundwater. This endangers people’s health and the environment.
- Inequitable access to water: Millions of people, especially in developing countries, have no access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation.
Need for innovative solutions
In order to solve the global water problem, innovative technologies are needed for the
- Water treatment: New technologies for cleaning polluted water must be developed to make it usable for human consumption or irrigation.
- Well regeneration: silted-up or polluted wells must be regenerated to ensure access to groundwater.
